SIBU: Sibu Water Board has been awarded the prestigious `KeTTHA Industry Awards (KIA) 2013 (Water) – Consumer Award’ which recognises its excellent services and outstanding achievements.

The award presentation was held on Nov 21 last year at Hotel Marriott, Putrajaya.

Sibu Water Board chairman Ubaidillah Abdul Latip told a press conference yesterday that the award was from the Ministry of Energy, Green Technology and Water (KeTTHA).

The Energy Commission, National Water Services Commission, the Sustainable Energy Development Authority Malaysia (Seda) and GreenTech Malaysia were also involved in the staging of the award presentation.

“This prestigious award is intended to recognise outstanding contributions and achievements in the energy, green technology and water industry, as well as to motivate players in the industry to continue with their excellent service delivery systems and sustain their good relationships with the government/ministry,” Ubaidillah said.

Evaluation for the award was based on four criteria, namely response time, customer service facilities, resolution of complaints and billing system.

On the various services of the Sibu Water Board, he singled out the registration of customers’ handphone numbers for special commend.

Ubaidillah said having the contacts of customers enabled the board to promptly inform them about water supply interruption, overdue bills and so on.

He appealed to those who had not registered their contacts with the board to do so by calling its Hotline at 084-216311 or Bill Enquiry Number at 084-216312 during office hours.

“Up till Jan 21 this year, 24,172 customers out of the total 62,306 have registered with us,” he stated.

Ubaidillah said customers may dial 013-8186311 in case the hotline was down.

“This number is not for SMS but receiving calls. The SMS number is 36828 where customers can check for the SMS balance enquiry for outstanding amount of water bill,” he added.

Sibu Water Board’s general manager Daniel Wong Park Ing and deputy general manager Alice Jawan were also present at yesterday’s press conference.
