1. How can I apply or register as a Competent Person such as Wireman, Chargeman, Electrial Supervisor and Competent Electrical Engineer?

Applications for registration as a Competent Person shall be submitted online through

2. How does a Rural Electrification Scheme (RES) project applicant know his/her application has been received and recorded by the Ministry?

Upon receipt, the Ministry records all RES project applications in its database. An acknowledgement letter is then issued to the applicant to confirm that the application has been received and duly recorded.

3. If I wish to import electrical appliances, am I required any approval from the Ministry?

Yes, all electrical appliances intended to be imported either for own use or sell to consumers are required to obtain approval from the Director of Electricity Supply. For further information or enquiries, kindly contact the Electrical Inspectorate Unit (EIU) office at 082-551008 or email to mut@sarawak.gov.my

4. Is the scope of RES project including internal wiring within the premises?

No, internal wiring within the premises is out of RES project scope.

5. What are the utilities under the purview of Ministry of Utility and Telecommunication Sarawak?

The utilities under the purview of the Ministry of Utility and Telecommunication Sarawak are Water Supply, Electricity Supply, Gas Distribution and Telecommunication.
