KUCHING (April 19): The 25 per cent discount on domestic electricity bills will be applied automatically, with no registration or application required, said Sarawak Energy.

However, the discount for electricity consumption in April 2026 will only be reflected in the June 2026 bill, the company said in a statement on Sunday.

The statement follows Premier Datuk Patinggi Tan Sri Abang Johari Tun Openg’s announcement last Thursday (April 16) that domestic tariff consumers will enjoy the discount until December this year.

According to Sarawak Energy, the discount covers electricity consumption from April to December this year and will be reflected in each month’s electricity bill.

The initiative is expected to provide immediate financial relief to about 714,000 domestic tariff customers across Sarawak, it said.

Sarawak Energy encouraged customers who receive estimated bills to contact the company to ensure the discount accurately reflects actual consumption.

To facilitate adjustments, it said customers can submit supporting documents such as photographs of the estimated bill and current meter readings via email to customercare@sarawakenergy.com, virtual agent Carina or SEB Cares (via the ‘Make a Report’ function).

Once verified, billing amounts will be adjusted to ensure the applicable discount is based on actual electricity usage.

Further updates on billing and implementation will be shared through Sarawak Energy’s website, official social media platforms and customer service channels.

Customers are advised to rely only on these official platforms for accurate information and to remain vigilant against unverified content from unofficial sources.

“Sarawak Energy fully supports the Sarawak government’s efforts to ease the cost of living for households amid current global economic pressures,” it added.
